A motorbike is a motorbike until you let design students run wild and see what happens. In this year’s Michelin Design Challenge 2006, that’s exactly what Tilmann Schlootz and Oliver Keller did in order to come up with this sexy beast above. The Baal All-Terrain Off Road Bike is based on a bendable rubber track that promises uber-traction in sand, snow or muck. It boasts a broad handlebar and to make it more manoeuvrable, it’s steered by hands and feet. It’s built to take a 500ccm ATV Motor which is already readily available and can take conventional fuel or fuel-cell systems (whenever good ones exist). The designers say the Baal would be perfect for extreme rallies like Baja or Paris Dakkar. I say it would be perfect in my garage.
