The 2010 Volvo C30 no longer requires customers to purchase a "Custom Build Program" in order to equip this premium compact car with popular optional features. This 2-door hatchback is this Swedish automaker's smallest car, and it shares elements of its basic design with the company's S40 sedan and V50 wagon. C30 is 8.5 inches shorter and about 300 lb lighter than the S40. The 2010 C30 reprises T5 and T5 R-Design trim levels. Both use a turbocharged 227-hp 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine and a 6-speed manual transmission or optional 5-speed automatic. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. All C30s have four bucket-style seats. The T5 R-Design has a sport suspension and 18-inch wheels. Options include power front seats, keyless access and engine start, bi-xenon headlights, blind-spot alert, a navigation system, and leather upholstery.

This premium compact SUV seats five and shares elements of its basic design with Volvo's V70 and XC70 station wagons. XC60 should continue to come in base 3.2 and uplevel T6 trim levels. The 3.2 likely would remain available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and have a 235-hp 3.2-liter 6-cylinder engine.

The T6 would remain AWD only and have a 281-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter 6-cylinder. A 6-speed automatic would be the sole transmission. Maximum towing capacity should remain 3300 pounds. It automatically activates the brakes at low speeds to avoid or reduce the severity of a rear-end collision.

The GLK350 trim level should return, and its engine will probably be a 268-hp 3.5-liter V6 mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.

A diesel-powered version may be added to the lineup, possibly dubbed GLK250 BlueTEC. The diesel engine may be a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder with around 200 hp. GLK350s will probably have standard 19-inch wheels and tires, and 20-inch versions are likely to be included as part of an optional appearance package.

RX 350 should have a 275-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The RX 450h would pair a 3.5-liter gas V6 with an electric motor for 295 hp total. Like other Toyota and Lexus hybrids, the RX 450h can run on one or both of its power sources to balance acceleration and fuel economy. It requires no plug-in charging and uses a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Maximum towing capacity should be 3500 lb.
